La Merveille is a Chambres D`Hotes / Bed
and Breakfast with 5 bedrooms.
Rooms range from a Large Family Room sleeping 6 to Double or Twin rooms – all rooms have en suite bathrooms. There is a good sized garden and pool that provides a safe environment for children.
La Merveille is located in the heart of the Normandy countryside in the small village of Le Luot a few kilometers north west of Avranches.
The house is an ideal base for reaching the excellent sandy beaches of Carolles and Jullouville; Mont St Michel - just a short distance south and the delightful local market towns of Villedieu-les-poeles, Jullouville, St Hillaire du Harcouet and Granville.
Local shops can be accessed within 10 minutes at Avranches with the nearest supermarket a similar distance away.
The D-Day landing beaches
can be reached in 50 minutes via the Avranches-Caen motorway.
Merveille has five bedrooms all on the first floor and all with en suite bathrooms.
There are two large family rooms, sleeping 5 and 6 respectively, and three double or twin rooms. For group bookings further accommodation can be made available on request on the 2nd floor. All the rooms have been redecorated to a modern french taste.
Guests have use of the extensive lounge and games room facilities. These include pool table, table footbll and English TV.
A continental breakfast is served from the lounge consisting of fresh baguettes, croissants (with jams) and pain chocolat. A wide range of cereals are available with yoghurt and orange juice. Choice of tea or coffee. On request an English breakfast can be provided with bacon, eggs, tomatoes and sausages. Again- on request- a simple evening meal or snack is readily available with possible barbecue in the warmer months.
La Merveille has a good-sized garden much of it given over to the animals. There are 2 ponies, a goat and a breton spaniel.
A swimming pool dominates the rest of the garden area with ample adjoining space for relaxing and enjoying the sun.
There is a barbecue area with a pagoda and ample seating.
A petanque piste has been
included and guests can try their hand at the popular game of boules.
There is a good deal of leisure activity in the area.
There are several excellent golf courses within 40 minutes drive. Most notably at Donville-sur-mer and Brehal- both courses close to Granville. These are dunes or links courses and are exceptionally well maintained with impressive club houses.
Le Parc- just 5 minutes from the house-hosts one of France`s premier karting tracks and provides excellent value for anyone wanting to go karting.
There are fishing lakes, a wide variety of excellent walks (including the spectacular quided walk across the sands to Mont St Michel) , numerous opportunities to go pony trekking or horse riding, and some superb sandy beaches- most notably ar Jullouville and Carolles.
La Merveille is the ideal base from which to explore the Lower Normandy region which must include a visit to the major tourist attrraction of Mont St Michel. At the same time it is highly recommended that visitors take in the beautiful harbour at Cancale and the nearby town of St Malo.
The area has 2 major World War 2 cemeteries at St James and and a museum close to Avranches.
There are first class weekly markets at St Hillaire du Harcouet, Villedieu-les-peoles, Jullouville and Granville.
You are spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants and we can recommend a good many in Avranches, Villedieu, Gavray and the surrounding area.
The D-Day Normandy landing beaches can readily be accessed via the motorway to Caen in less than 60 minutes.
About 20 minutes from La Merveille is the excellent country zoo at Champrepus which allows the animals space to run free in grassy paddock enclosures.
