Debbie & David Welcome you to their Farmhouse In The Heart Of The Brittany Countryside, which offers comfortable Bed and Breakfast Accommodation.

Only a short drive from the port of St Malo and the magnificent heritage site of Mont St Michel.

La Chénardais is a small hamlet situated in the heart of the picturesque Brittany countryside, yet only a short drive from the various towns and attractions within the area (detailed below under local area and activities).

This stone built farmhouse has been lovingly renovated since it was purchased in 2001. As it had been left unoccupied for ten years, it has taken many hours, days, weeks and months to bring it to the high standard that it is today.

Many of the internal walls have been knocked down to produce spacious rooms giving the overwhelming feeling of space. There is an “inglenook” fireplace, which was discovered quite by chance and an old Aga dating from the early 1920’s. There is in fact a lot of history surrounding the house, which we would be happy to relate upon your stay with us.

La Chenardais offers bed and breakfast accommodation in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Guest accommodation is very comfortable and tastefully decorated. There is a guest lounge, which offers the opportunity to sit and chat, read a book, have a snack and a drink or just relax before going out to dinner.

From June to September there is the use of an outdoor heated pool (open 10am – 6pm) or just sit, have a drink or snack and top up your tan. There is plenty of space for the children to run about and play.

We provide ample parking for cars, trailers, boats and caravans.

We aim to provide our guests with the opportunity to have a really great holiday in Brittany, and hope that they feel completely relaxed and refreshed when they leave.

Combourg - This town is a dedication to the memory of the great writer Francois-Rene Chateaubriand. The castle of Combourg is a medieval fortress built between the 12th and 15th centuries and is still owned by the descendants of the famous romantic writer.

Dinan - This is an ancient walled city overlooking the beautiful Rance Valley. It has attracted writers and artists throughout history. Wander along the narrow streets, squares and gardens or visit the Castle, the Belfrey or St Saviour’s church. There are many places of interest to see in this lovely town.

Dinard - A beautiful coastal town with lovely sandy beaches, coastal walks, magnificent villas and Mediterranean gardens. The river Rance is one of the prettiest in Brittany and offers plenty of opportunity for river excursions.

Dol de Bretagne - This medieval town has one of Brittany’s oldest houses, the ‘Maison des Petits Palets”. It is steeped in memories of the Vikings who invaded the region many years ago. There is a market on Saturday mornings with much local produce for sale.

Mont St Michel - This amazing rocky islet rises out of the Bay and is a must for all who visit this area. Now a world heritage site, Mont St Michel Bay has the highest tides in Europe.

Rennes - Described as “one of the prettiest capital cities in the kingdom” Rennes is the capital of Brittany and offers a variety of architecture both old and new. Visit Rennes City Hall, Thabor Park, the Commerce, Post and Telephone Building and the market on Saturday morning at the Lices Square.

St Malo - There are many restaurants, shops, historic buildings and museums to see in the walled seaport. It was destroyed by 80% in World War 2 but has been restored to its former glory. There are 10km of sandy beaches, water sports and coastal walks.
