Turning left off the D704
Gourdon to Sarlat road brings you down the undulated wooded slopes of
the beautiful Marcilland valley and the pretty village of Payrignac. The
Old village of honey coloured stone houses surrounds the church of St.
Agapit first mentioned in the areas history in 954 and famous for its
Altar du Pelican built in gilt wood.
Flowers are everywhere
in Payrignac, tumbling down from Balconies and Terrasses surrounding the
lake and lining the roads through the village.
Our house, the first Mairie
of the village until 1932 is directly opposite the Church in the heart
of the village. There is plenty of parking available in the square. Your
stay in Payrignac can give you a unique insight into the life of an unspoilt
french village There is a bar/restaurant overlooking the lake where you
can while away a few hours with a meal and a glass of red wine or two,
or if you prefer to fish, licences can be obtained from the Mairie. |
